Let’s get happy. I just can’t take the media frenzy any more so I’m going on a happy diet. I’m not going to eat cookies or a pile of pizza, although those things make me really happy in the moment. Then my jeans are too tight and I’m unhappy.
- Stop reading about you know who, not even the headlines. Nothing is going to change between now and November 8th, famous last words. Please be true. (This is a toughie.)
- Read a funny book like, “My Grandmother Said She’s Sorry” by Fredrick Backman. Seriously witty and LOL!
- Go Shopping. The new plaid flannel shirt I bought on a Thursday made me happy every day of the whole weekend. I’m still not tired of it. Bonus: I fit right in at Parents Weekend in Oregon. Warm and snuggly. The Lumber Jack look is a good thing.
- Listen to happy songs, the ones you can belt when you are by yourself in the car say, American Author’s “Best Day of My Life.” If I’m going to be happy I may as well make it the best. Singing out loud is better than the gym.
- But go to the gym anyway.
- Get back to what you know. Happy blogging works wonders for me. Kind of taking a little break as I try to finish a book, a big bucket list item but draining my creativity.
- Try a new emoji, like the upside down smiley face. Hubby liked that one.
- Watch The Voice. Crazy good talent this season. Much to my surprise, I love Miley Cyrus, a hoot and a sweetie pie.
- Send ridiculous texts with your siblings or smarty-pants friends. My sister just told me she was willing her “millions” to me. My reply: “How convenient; I need millions. How’s your health? I’m in a hurry.”
- Pull a fast one on your very smart hubby. Instead of getting a to-go coffee at the breakfast café we dined in, he wanted a Starbucks coffee for the road home from Eugene. “You know Starbuck’s coffee makes you go to the bathroom more, right?” Hubby bit. “IT DOES?” LOL! Where’s that upside down emoji?!?
- Read past Shoezle posts. What’s your favorite? (This works for me and for you! I like that.)
- Stand next to a Big Yellow Duck. Or, look at someone standing next to a Big Yellow Duck.
I love it that you recommend a Swedish book! I haven´t read that one…still catching up on American lit. ? Good luck with your big bucket list item!
I tell ya, those Swedes can tell a great story! Thanks for the encouragement!
You’re writing a book? Awesome!
Yes it is true. I’m writing a book and I have a whole new appreciation for authors. Lots and lots of rewrites.;-)
Francie Low for President!!!
Ha! I used to think I would never qualify, but ya know, things can happen! I’d rather blog. Less harmful.;-)
I feel happier just reading your happiness post! (and I know you’ll get that book done with style!)
Thanks for the encouragement Elizabeth! I’m happy I made you happy!
Yes, this election and media coverage is CRAZY!!!
I have observed UNfriending on Facebook over politics. 🙁
Adding a dose of happy every day is good medicine. Thanks for the fun suggestions.
I try to skip over the unfriend the friend fb posts. One more week…..
Such great happy tips here!!! Thank you!
Thanks for keeping me away from the election on TV today! I’ll be happy and write a poem instead. But I can’t promise for Monday and Tuesday.
I liked your poem, so very creative and funny. And, it kept me away from the election.
