Regardless of your choice of candidates, most people would agree the 2016 Presidential Election is unprecedented. The frontrunners defied all odds. The lack of political experience improved a candidate’s chances. Usually, discriminatory or inflammatory remarks would sink a candidate, but not this race. Young people are making a huge difference.
As long as we are in uncharted waters, why not throw another crazy measuring stick into the mix: What about the hair? That’s the way to vote this election.
My elderly neighbor is a very smart lady, but the candidates’ hair kind of got to her. Seriously, that’s what spoke to her first, not crafty speeches or tough-guy speak. When the conversation broached the election, because who isn’t talking about it, I asked questions first to better understand her position. I didn’t want to opine and inadvertently strike a nerve.
“So, what do you think about Trump?” I ask my elderly friend.
“Well, I think it’s a wig.” She says without a hitch.
Whoa. I never saw a hair comment coming, but that’s kind of how this election is going. I don’t think my neighbor and I are on the same side of the political spectrum, but that one, we agreed on. Trump’s hair was questionable, for both of us.
Then we talked about Hillary.
“She’s done a nice job on her hair. She’s a grandma and just look at her!” My sweet friend exclaimed.
I agreed with her there too. The color and style suit her. She looks classy.
So here we are, two people on the same side of the street with the same opinion of the political candidates. The hair was key to uniting our party differences. We didn’t get a chance to talk about the other candidates but I bet we would come up with the same assessments. Slicked back hair is really slick. Thick, slightly wavy hair is nice enough. No hair is trending. Gray with a side part, is kind of forgettable.
Skip the party affiliations, issues, debate skills, diplomacy or intellect. Make it a beauty contest. People are kind of fussy about their hair and take great care in choosing who will cut or style it. Some people like their hairstyle so much they never change it, no matter the decade or what critics say. Others stay current but not too flashy. I think hair reveals a lot about a candidate’s personality, priorities and heart. And maybe, the hair is a reflection of how they will run our country.
I kind of think this would work.

Hair, Hair! This topic makes more sense than many of the other “issues” that have been discussed on the campaign trail so far.
Lol! Very clever! A hair focused election makes total sense!
