On Thanksgiving Eve, I was trying to do too many things. My blog needed updating. I needed breakfast and a lot of coffee. I had been up since 5:05 AM to take my son swimming and swim myself. All the while I’m doing these things, I’m stressing out because I did not have my Thanksgiving feast purchased.
Generally, I am not a procrastinator unless I’m thinking about cleaning my messy closet or I am supposed to write something and nobody is watching, so I don’t.
My blog shut me out while I was trying to post all over the place. WHAT?!?
I gave up to blow dry my nearly dry hair. On my way to the bathroom, I called out over my shoulder for my son to finish his college essay. Saying out loud to myself and everyone, “I NEED to get THAT DARN TURKEY!”
My visiting brother comes chasing after me to tell me pizza is just fine. I think I scared him into believing I might blow up with my blog.
My brother and I set out to brave the throngs of last-minute turkey chefs. We fought for a parking space. We passed all the people standing in line to pick up their pre-ordered turkey. JEALOUS! For the first time in years, I was not one of them. I did not have one STITCH of time to order ahead.
We made our way to the frozen turkey section as if it were Black Friday. At least 100 birds were waiting for us.
THANKSGIVING SAVED!
I breathed a little easier and told my brother we should have a drink to celebrate. We went to lunch instead. Only two more things for me to do to feel better now: fix my blog and take a nap.
I lay on my bed, reading about reasons for blog crashing and promptly fell asleep.
When I awoke, I logged into my computer and THERE was my blog with my new shiny post.
On this day of thanks, I am grateful I learned two things:
- If your blog is broken, take a nap. It will be better in an hour.
- If you are stressed out about not having your Thanksgiving turkey, go out immediately and buy it already. Nothing else matters.
Happy Thanksgiving!
