Blogging every day has piqued my curiosity in the every day. The Marathon Writing Challenge, NaBloPoMo, forces me to come up with something to write about and I want it to be my own ideas; prove I can do it on my own power, run the extra mile. I haven’t used a prompt yet until today, a little shot block or energy enhancer. In writer’s group we were asked what makes us curious? I immediately thought of how I look for blog topics in my every day happenings.
I find my eyes are more active, scanning grocery stores, spin class or racks of clothes. I look forward to whatever random discussion or irritating teenage rant might bring to the page. I’m waiting for a connection that makes me think more deeply. Who knew when we had too many Mexican meals in a row, my goal of making a “non-Mexican” dinner would inspire me to make something very American like meatloaf. I found the most unhealthy and of course delicious recipe. Whoever thought potato chips and saltine crackers, the binders holding the crumbly hamburger together, would end up on my dinner plate and my blog.
A lot of people think I’m crazy for blogging every day, or at least mighty ambitious. It’s hard to jump on my laptop daily, but if the right moment surfaces to raise my eyebrows or crack me up, I’m excited about my writing challenge. I liken the blog marathon, to training for the running kind. Marathon runners are thought to be crazy. I know. I ran a half marathon and confirmed it myself; it’s REALLY hard. I satisfied my curiosity about that one. So, to try my hand at a writing marathon challenge, I was curious what it would bring me. Curiosity comes my way every day.

Keep it up Francie! You are doing a great job, and every time you write you are changing the loupe through which you look at the world.
Curiosity is often a good thing!,
Yes it is! I can’t imagine life without it.
Happy to see the “curiosity prompt” led to this great post! Writing helps create more writing, and curiosity fuels the inspiration.
You are right, writing creates more writing and deadlines get the bootie moving so the writing keeps writing….vicious circle.:-)
